Artificial Intelligence Revisited - 3 years on
Three years ago, I saw an article on Reddit about how someone asked ChatGPT to write a biblical verse about removing a peanut butter sandwich from a VCR. And honestly, it was incredible.
Back then, I was dabbling in this new world of artificial intelligence — playing around with GPT-3, DALL·E, Mid Journey and testing how it might help with copywriting, design prompts, and creative workflows. It was novel. Fun. Slightly absurd. And at the time, it was pretty cool but I didn’t realise it would be something that I would come to rely on and I would have a new magic employee called Alfie. Yes, I named my ChatGPT Alfred (after Batman’s right hand man).
I had no idea that I would be talking to Alfie every day and it would help me with code, copywriting and anything that I didn’t know. There were a few projects I took on which I wasn’t sure I could complete because it wasn’t a core skill but I felt confident to tackle it with Alfie.
A lot can change in three years in the AI world.
From Toy to Tool
What felt like magic in 2022 quickly became mundane in 2025 — not because it’s lost its impact, but because it’s now everywhere. The tech that once blew my mind is now integrated into my daily work at GRZZ. It helps with:
Speeding up content creation
Generating first-draft concepts and copy
CSS Code
Working out how to do tricky things like Mail Merge and Zapier workflows.
AI has moved from a novelty to a trusted tool — like a smart assistant that never sleeps, never runs out of ideas and doesn’t eat any biscuits from the tea room.
So What’s Actually Changed?
The short answer? Everything.
The models have grown up: GPT-4, Claude, Gemini — these tools understand more context, produce more nuanced writing, and are increasingly indistinguishable from human tone.
Visuals are next-level: AI-generated images now feel like high-end stock photography. Tools like Midjourney, DALL·E 3, and Runway have blurred the line between artist and algorithm.
Integration is seamless: Squarespace, Notion, Adobe — AI is no longer a separate tool, it’s built right into the apps we use daily.
The ethics are real: From copyright questions to misinformation to deepfakes — we’re now dealing with powerful technology that comes with serious responsibility.

What’s Coming Over the Next 10 Years?
Trying to predict the future of AI is like trying to predict the internet in 1995 — you’ll probably underestimate it.
That said, here’s what I see coming:
AI as co-pilot, not creator: The best use of AI will be as a creative sidekick — helping humans do their jobs better, faster, and more thoughtfully.
Curation over creation: Our roles will shift — not just creating content, but curating, refining, and making sure it hits the mark.
The human element becomes more important: Ironically, as machines get better at mimicking us, our authenticity, intuition, and emotional intelligence become even more valuable.
Ethics will shape innovation: How we handle bias, data privacy, and ownership will define whether AI is a net good — or just another tech disaster waiting to happen.
Playing Smarter.
I still use AI tools almost every day — for headlines, ideas, outlines, codes, working something out that I’m not sure about. But I use them deliberately now. With more perspective. More curiosity. And more awareness of the role they play in the work I do.
I even used AI to help draft this article, but I have heavily edited it, but it was a huge help to be able to work from a draft.
I don’t think people realise yet what a big deal AI is and how it will change our lives, hopefully for the better in the long term, it definitely has been for the better in the short-term.
Thanks Alfie!
