We love Meatballs and were lucky enough to work with Meatballs & Wine Bar in Melbourne.

Our tasks included:

  • Squarespace Development

  • Ecommerce

  • Stripe Integration

  • Transactional Emails

  • Email Marketing

  • Gift Vouchers

  • Sampling of Meatballs (Just kidding, I wish!)

Our first task was to move the existing site in Squarespace 7.0 to Squarespace 7.1 - it seems like a slight jump in version numbers, but it’s a dramatic shift in how the website operates. Version 7.0 uses a templating system, whereas Version 7.1 uses global styles, and the pages are built section by section.

We worked on the design of the site and changed some of the fonts, colours and layouts. We also optimised some of the imagery and made sure the images had descriptive file names and ALT tags (good for SEO and visually impaired users).

We moved the email marketing system from Mailchimp over to Squarespace and combined a number of lists into a master marketing list.

Squarespace is great for rapid development, and this includes E-commerce. We were able to set up an E-commerce store in no time, which included a Gift Voucher system for easily purchasing gift vouchers that are easily redeemable in-store using the Squarespace App.

The booking system was easy to add in using the Squarespace Code Block. When Squarespace falls down in features, it can easily be picked up again with 3rd party integrations.

Moving the domain from Squarespace to Squarespace was more difficult than you would think; there were some fiddly domain name settings we needed to tweak in order to have the site operating correctly.
